Congratulations to Sarah Grocock who won the FBE Midlands Rising Star of the year Award. Sarah graduated from De Montfort University with a First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Architecture. Sarah returned to De Montfort University to complete her Master’s Degree, MArch (Hons) Architecture, and graduated in 2016 with a First Class Honours. Her final design thesis project was ‘Slowness; The Kingsbridge Skills Exchange Centre for the Third Age’. Through the design of this project, Sarah wrote a research paper on the idea of ‘Slowness’ and reconnecting with natural time through architecture. The Leicester School of Architecture awarded Sarah’s research with the ‘Top Design Research Study Prize.’ Additionally, the design of Sarah’s project was recognised by the LRSA which resulted in her being shortlisted for the prestigious ‘RIBA East Midlands Student Awards’.
Sarah is now working at rg+p in Leicester as a Part II Architectural Assistant and has quickly grasped the complexity of the industry and is producing high quality work. The projects Sarah has worked on recently include Spire Garage Site Phase 1 and Boston close - a residential project in conjunction with Corby Borough Council. Sarah’s role included leading the design team; preparing and submitting planning applications; attending design team meetings and public consultations and site visits.
