Geraldine Dening at the Urgent Imagination Conference in Vancouver

Senior Lecturer Geraldine Dening recently presented a paper at the Urgent Imagination Conference in Vancouver. Geraldine is a founding member of Architects for Social Housing (ASH) a collective of urban designers, academics, engineers, artists and activists who are responding to London's present housing crisis. Under the theme of 'Communities, Culture and Consultation' she discussed community-led development and her involvement with Open Gardens Estates, a London-wide event organised by ASH involving community tours and teach-ins, aimed to dispel harmful representations of housing estates and their residents. She also presented the alternative proposals for build-over and infill that ASH have been working on with the residents of Knights Walk in response to Lambeth's proposals to demolish their homes.
