Last month LSA student Daniel Sturrock participated in a once in a lifetime volunteering trip to the Gambia with students and staff enrolled on the University’s DMUglobal programme. DMUglobal gives students the opportunity to undertake field trips, summer schools and internships around the world, allowing them to experience different cultures whilst studying at DMU.
The field trip included the construction of a Hub for young people which will be used to teach them about entrepreneurship. It will have a technological facility and accommodation for future volunteers within global hands and other organisations. It will be the principle point of the community and it will be a great addition for the community in Manduar. Daniel’s other experiences included shadowing an Architect for the day, which gave him an insight into building techniques in the Gambia.
